McAfee, an antivirus and security company, has made public its report on internet security for this year. The study, called “Mapping the Mal Web Revisited,” has made available some interesting, though alarming information. It seems that chances of getting a virus or a security threat while surfing the web has increased with more than 40 percent since this time last year.

There has also been a change of places in the ‘most dangerous domain name’ top. If last year’s champion was a small island in the Pacific with about 1,500 inhabitants, Tokelau, this year the tables have turned and Hong Kong “proudly” takes the lead. Of course, it would be absurd to blame Tokelau’s population for messing around with our computers. However, the company, which made the .tk domain name available, charged nothing for the use of it, thus making it a paradise for everyone who wanted to contribute to the growing world of computer viruses............

Run a Domain Name Background Check Before Buying - Search Engine Journal

Run a Domain Name Background Check Before Buying Search Engine Journal - 2 hours ago Many webmasters choose to buy already well-established domains that have a number of backlinks and can be easier (and faster) to promote. ...
I don’t want to go into discussing the effectiveness of this method as it can be both waste of time and great tactic (I myself saw both). Some people prefer to start from scratch; others want to develop old domains as this appears faster. Thus you may find hard time getting the site indexed or by linking from it now blacklist your other site. So prior to bidding or buying an established domain..................... The two teenage hackers who managed to gain control of Comcast's website have been commenting the attack. 'Defiant' and 'EBK', members of the Kryogeniks hacking group, said that they were "surprised and appalled" at how much attention was given to their actions. "The situation has kind of blown up here a lot bigger than I thought it would," 'Defiant' told Wired. "I wish I was a minor right now because this is going to be really bad." On Thursday, Comcast Corp. released a statement saying that hackers managed to take over and deface its website for more than twelve hours, thus preventing users from accessing their Comcast e-mails and account records. In a telephone interview organized by Kevin Poulsen, a well-known hacker who now writes for Wired magazine, the teenage-hackers revealed that the attack started on Tuesday by entering the site’s domain management console at Network Solutions. It seems that the break off was successfully made by using a combination of social engineering and a technical hack. The method was confirmed by 'Defiant.'
