The two teenage hackers who managed to gain control of Comcast's website have been commenting the attack. 'Defiant' and 'EBK', members of the Kryogeniks hacking group, said that they were "surprised and appalled" at how much attention was given to their actions. "The situation has kind of blown up here a lot bigger than I thought it would," 'Defiant' told Wired. "I wish I was a minor right now because this is going to be really bad." On Thursday, Comcast Corp. released a statement saying that hackers managed to take over and deface its website for more than twelve hours, thus preventing users from accessing their Comcast e-mails and account records. In a telephone interview organized by Kevin Poulsen, a well-known hacker who now writes for Wired magazine, the teenage-hackers revealed that the attack started on Tuesday by entering the site’s domain management console at Network Solutions. It seems that the break off was successfully made by using a combination of social engineering and a technical hack. The method was confirmed by 'Defiant.'
